You've probably heard about the MLS and you probably think it's a database of homes for sale. Well, you're partially correct. In addition to being a resource of homes that are listed for sale by real estate companies, the MLS is also a business environment in which real estate companies cooperate with each other.
Through the MLS, for instance, as a Buyer's Broker I can help you find and purchase a home that is listed by some other real estate company. And when I do that, I can be assured that my company will be compensated by the seller's listing broker. In other words, you - my client - don't have to pay my company. Instead, the listing broker shares some of their commission, which they get from the seller, with my company. It's a great system because it benefits sellers, buyers, listing brokers, and buyer's brokers.
But aside from all that, if you're looking for a home-search web site, you can do that from thousands of real estate web sites. One of the best sites to search for MLS-Listed homes is TheMLSOnline. That's actually another real estate company. I don't want you to do business with them - I want you to hire me as your Buyer's Broker - but they do have an excellent web site for home searching. You'll find good information there, but you won't find all the information about a property you might be interested in. The only way you can get all the information about a property is to ask me to dig into the property for you and use my knowledge and skills to unconver everything I can about properties you want to know more about.
So go ahead and search for homes, then when you come up with some addresses you are interested in, email them to me and I'll send you thorough, detailed information that you can use to base your decisions on.
Call me or Email me so I can help you sort through your options.
